I agree with your logic around there seeming to be a 'phantom' speed connection with both issues, but I'm finding it hard to disassociate it from the fact that my roof problem came about exactly when I was 'recklessly' manhandling the top to remove the mould from the inside of it. I'm really not sure about the spoiler, which only came about recently, but the car battery (which was previously fine) seems to have deteriorated recently. It appears to lose charge even though I've been disconnecting it. I've known cars to do weird things when the battery goes duff, so this might be the first straw I pluck at. Regarding the top, I've heard mention of manually opening and closing several times to 'reset' it. Not sure how that would work, but I'll give it a go.
