"These basic scan tools will give you the Down Link Connector (DLC) codes that are generically required by the OBDII rules. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of our crossfires have proprietary access to several functions to help their dealerships. An honest company would allow you access to your own stuff with reasonable security. I really like the car I bought but will NEVER buy anything like it again without first researching things like programming for new keys and the like."

I am asking you guys with knowledge of this situation to expand a bit about how FCA (now) and MB (always) are failing to help us fix what they - in their previous partnership - foisted on us. As I see it, the Chrysler dealers are worthless - don't have the part, the tools or the expertise to service the car, and their management is uninterested in rectifying this. MB (perhaps) can use their tools and expertise but won't service the car as they do an SLK. Neither seems to give a **** about us. The idea that they purposely designed, built and sold these systems so as to "lock-in" service functions to their dealerships exclusively seems quite possible to me - given the history of the german auto firms and emissions evasion. Could you give me concisely your concept of how they did this. Not the scanner tech stuff but how Daimler Chrysler screwed us -advertantly or inadvertently by restricting these codes, vehicle specific coding, all that.

I'm looking for a way to explain our situation to the lawyer...

BTW, someone today said something nice about me and offered to chip in on the trial test with MDP. Not necessary - I merely floated that idea to see how many effected out there would act together. Not encouraging response. I prefer to pursue this with my dime. But still, for the good of all.
Hi Guys ,
You Wolfstalker are very noble to help everyone with the skreem issue . I know Emery has offer to help you with this skreem situation and its nice to know there are good people out there .As you can see there are a few here on the forum that can be very negative epec with some of us new to these cars. My car is no where as nice as you guys and I am on the lower end of the fixed income level to have as nice a car as you guys have, so as you all may know I paid $1700 back in Nov 2018 for a high mileage Crossfire blaze red 6 speed coupe although my car is running it could one day go the way of many other Crossfires, that is what scares me since last week I had a episode where I went on errands stopped for dinner came out and nothing each time I turned key just the idiot light came on I thought ohhh crap !! Wolfstalker came to mind as I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for AAA to tow car and as soon as I had them on the phone I tried one more time car started right up and I went on with no issues since, until the gremlins come out again to scare me that's why I don't want to drive it to far from home anyway It is nice to know guys like you guys who are learning just like I am Emery is a cool dude he is also in Canada . Ok guys have a great week ahead
