I think that the he don't change the transmitter or lost the transmitter by the key repair. This transmitters are very solid so I don't think it is damaged. But if you use a key without or with a false transmitter you will have the same issue as a bad skreem has.
I read it as just the key being damaged and replaced not the whole fob.
Clarification on this matter would certainly help.
