I'd replace the speakers with same like and kind and do the suggested mod from the link. THEN ... pass judgment on the sound system. I did the mod and run my bass at +2 (CD) and +4 (radio). I have a friend that does car stereo custom installs and he's quite impressed with the stock system. Now as to the Becker head ... that's another topic.
