Has anyone ever tried to install a 722.9 to replace the 722.6 transmission?

Personally I dont enjoy seeing the RPMs around 3000 at 75-80 when driving on the highway. Ive been spoiled by newer vehicles i guess. Unless of course there is something wrong with my transmission. Any positive feedback is always appreciated and the usual b... busting!

Are you running stock size tires ?

I run 285 /35 which are taller than the 255 /35, idbyou don't want the width you should be able to use 255/40 about the same as the 285 / 35, .9" taller at 26.9 vs 26", speedometer at 75 would be acouppe of mph off, but at the same gps speed would drop rpm down a pinch, also could get a srt ring and pinion going a 3.07 from a 3.27, or I there is a member that did make acouple 2.88 (I believe that was what it was)

75 mph, .83 5th gear, 26" tires, 3.27 ring gear
2631 rpm

Change tires to 26.9
2543 rpm

Add next the 3.07
2387 rpm

Use the 2.88 instead of the 3.07
2239 rpm

Takes down 392 rpm

if you happen to be able to use the 7 speed trans that with a .7267 gear then would be at 1961 rpm with tires and a 2.88 ring gear

All stock be 3,000 rpm you are doing 85.53 mph
