Default Re: Worlds Cheapest V8 Swap

Holy Cow Batman!! I had a pretty busy morning!!

So yesterday the wife and I were cruising around so she could gather Pokeballs, and she noticed that even though she had her temperature control wheel turned all the way to cold, it was still pumping out blistering hot air!!

After a search on the forum I realized that it must be the coolant "Duovalve" and decided we would head for Pick-N-Pull this morning and grab the valve from the 93k miles XF that was one row away from being crushed. Grabbed the valve and the coolant tank, $18 for both items.

Got home and swapped the valve out, perfect!! The temperature wheels on both sides are working flawlessly. I will take the one I removed apart and check condition and if it can be saved I will clean it up, lube it, and throw it on the spare parts shelf for a later date.

I needed to finish charging the A/C so I got that done and out of the way.

5-6 weeks or so ago, I pulled the steering wheel from the wrecking yard XF (beautiful condition), and swapped that out since my wheel had split stiches and just generally looked like hell.

Got the transmission fluid exchange done. I picked up my TT300 Pro Plus fluid exchange machine on CL a few months ago for $150. I had to go through it and clean it out and make sure all the check valves and what not were working, and they were. 18 quarts of new Pentosin ATF-134. Took it for a test drive and topped it off when I got home.

My intake manifold gaskets and such will be here on Tuesday. I believe we are pretty close to being told to "Shelter in Place" here in Washington. Why Governor Inslee hasn't done it yet is beyond me, my guess is because of Boeing. Boeing is still trying to build airplanes that nobody needs or can really pay for at the moment...… so that is kind of counterproductive in my opinion. Coronavirus is running amuck in the Everett plant as well, they have no masks, no sanitizer, and no hope of ever getting any. Something like 1400 employees are under quarantine....... Enough of that rant.

Enjoy the pictures!! And as always, there will be more to follow!!

Jared
