THere is a LOT of hope, in the long term.
1) There are more than two drugs that are showing promise in both treatment and prevention.
2) An actual vaccine is PROBABLY going to emerge in the next two years.
3) There is also a chance the virus itself will mutate into a much more deadly form, but a chemist tells me the most likely outcome is that it mutates into a LESS dangerous form, or does not change much at all.
This will pass, just like the 1918/1919 flu passed, just like the black death and cholera passed. Mankind has seen some plagues take out 1/3 of the population of entire regions - this will not happen with the China Virus.
It's not easy to deal with what we are going thru, but the entire world is going thru it - for once, we are ALL in the same boat and we are ALL working to address this. I am VERY optimistic, long term.
In the short term, we are really screwed. But this too will pass.
