I always put oil on O-rings when installing something that uses them even when the part appears to have some on it already. The last thing you need is to pinch and nick the O-ring when installing the part with them on.
The so-called ‘fleece’ filters are in fact made from Polyester, my 2004 Crossfires came with a paper filter but the FSS was set at 11,000 km oil change limit.


Second that on using some oil on the "O" rings, this allows easy assembly of the filter and housing parts, to the car engine. Otherwise, you MIGHT crimp or dislodge any (or) a portion of the filter (to its correct position). Have fun, and good luck!
