I am not saying that at all, I would say that a paper filter would only last a couple of thousand miles. You state figures that are applicable to the Polyester filter, how do you get to that conclusion.
Under no circumstances would I recommend a paper filter and if you go to a quick oil change garage that is what you will get, and they will collapse.
I cannot swear that the 2004 models came with paper filters, it is a long time ago now. The 2004 Owners Manual mentions the 7,000 mile oil change.
