I tried swageing one once - total failure.
Sourced a replacement from a guy that was parting out a roadster.
It was not so long ago that swagged cables were on every aircraft, done well they last a long, long time.
You need a good machine to do it and the correct fittings that can be swagged. I have seen it done at an aircraft factory.
