Yes, my noise was a humming noise, much like what you hear from snow or truck tires. As far as getting it fixed, the noise drove me nuts nor is it normal, the gears in the rear end are not right and will only get worse over time.

Yes, the rear end swap fixed the problem.

The mileage on my car was 14k when I had mine fixed.
