Unfortunately I have the same humming noise as many of you describe. Right at exactly 61 mph and 2,100 on the RPM. You can only hear it under slight load and goes away right after 62 mph. It's kinda annoying, but do you guys think I should waste my time at the dealer trying to get this fixed?? Car has 38,500k on it, but I also have the 7/70 extended warrenty.

You should also check out my recent post on the same topic in which benz47 was very helpful. Search for "humming noise over 50 mph". Anyways I have had this problem and through peristance and two different "Five-star" service dealers as well as the information from this forum I am getting my differential replaced Monday! Thank the lord! Go to the dealer, know your stuff, be persistant, but most importantly get a test drive with a mechanic. Thats what convinced the dealer to fix it for me! Its a manufacturing defect and it does get worse! Mine already has since I bought it! The humming is noticeably worse. Dealers might try to tell you its normal, but its not! I only had my 7 year/70k mile warranty and replacing the differential is covered so all I will pay is 100 dollars. Best of luck to you. Don't be intimidated by the dealers it will be worth it in the end.

Thanks man! Can you let us know how you made out when you get the car back?! It would be appreciated. For me, im a little skeptical about the dealer working on this car. Replacing a rear end seems like a pretty big job and i just don't want anything to snowball if you know what i mean...Any other SRT6 owners have this issue?? So far it seems the majority have been limited and base models...

Its surprising its on the SRT6 because I was under the impression Karmann corrected the defect after the '04 models (obviously the SRT6 wasn't manufactured until later). I was wary just as you are of the dealers working on the car and they can wear you down with their BS excuses. Here's the basics of the repair... the work it takes to replace the differential is relatively simple and takes less than a day (its done on trucks and 4 wheel/rear wheel drive vehicles quite often). The reason dealers try to through you off telling you its "normal noise" is because the part is around the $3,000 range and when its under warranty it costs them more to fix it (I don't know if this makes sense but its what I have read). I'll tell you how it goes on Monday. I will post it in the other thread I created. Good luck!
