Each end of the strut support has a small pinch clamp. Tale a flat blade screwdriver & pry the clamp out enough to enable you to pull the end connection off the ball mount. You don't have to pry the clamp all the way off, but if you want, you can.

When you install the new strut, just align the female connections on each end and lightly tap them onto the ball pins. I always find it easier if I install the strut first to the mounting ball located along the hatch. Then install the upper end of strut to the mounting ball on the hatch. You may have to rotate the second strut mount to get proper alignment with the ball pin. The strut will snap into place. Make sure you do these one at a time so you can refer to the other strut to see exactly how it is installed.
