At the end of the day, what is the best replacement strut for an SRT6 coupe? My hatch is starting to droop, especially when there is rain on it or the wind is blowing (those big fins exert downforce even when up). I'm not worried about saving oodles of money as much as obtaining the right strut that works similar to oem.

Take your pick from standard replacement here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...t+support,1404

Also:

All of those will work the Monroe and the Boxi ones won't make your hatch shake (dampen at the end). Sachs/Stabilus were the manufacturer for the factory part.

I went with the SACHSSG314087. Any tips on installation? I have not looked closely at the struts but it seems there is a plastic cover over the bold end.

Each end of the strut support has a small pinch clamp. Tale a flat blade screwdriver & pry the clamp out enough to enable you to pull the end connection off the ball mount. You don't have to pry the clamp all the way off, but if you want, you can.

When you install the new strut, just align the female connections on each end and lightly tap them onto the ball pins. I always find it easier if I install the strut first to the mounting ball located along the hatch. Then install the upper end of strut to the mounting ball on the hatch. You may have to rotate the second strut mount to get proper alignment with the ball pin. The strut will snap into place. Make sure you do these one at a time so you can refer to the other strut to see exactly how it is installed.

Here's a video that takes you thru the removal & install on hatch struts:

Finally received the set from Amazon (Tuff 613448) Long story, super great holding and NO SHAKING or stumbling. Very smooth, old ones only held the last two to three inches off the top so they were due. $25 plus tax free shipping BUT the price went up some.

Hi! I have a 2008 SRT6 coupe. I lifted the hatch the other day and it dropped on me. Needless to say I think I’m in need of new struts.
An easy enough Google to find but confusing when it comes to lengths and ‘shaking’.
I would like new struts fairly equal to what I currently have.
Last post here was 11/2020. Any new strut brand names out there worth purchasing?

I appreciate any help!
thank you,
Sandy

Don't think I could offer anything other than what I've posted previously in this thread. My mind tells me the strut for an SRT-6 may be a little stronger than an NA car due to the large rear spoiler on the hatch. Hopefully, someone with specific experience, will get back to you.

Stick with Sachs or Stabilus.
The ones you have now may have a part number on them besides the Mercedes or Chrysler ones.

I reread this thread because I’m not 100% sure how to use this site.
a question about Stabilus struts…will my hatch shake?
thank you,
Sandy
