towed to dealer and after a week get the call to replace PCM BUT they cannot find one ANYWHERE, I read numerous articles about RCM and adding sodder to 3 points on the board.
Is it really that simple of a fix ?
I suggested to Chrysler dlr to try it and even sent You Tube with no reply .
Should they be looking at something else ?
1) Did the starter engage or not? "No start" is too vague, tell us what we are working on.
2) Why did you take it to a damn dealer? You'd be better off taking it to Joe's garage.
There is nothing wrong with the PCM, if the starter won't engage, I'd bet it's the solder on the RCM. If the starter is engaging, it could be any number of things - but it is not the PCM.
Get the car home from the dealer TODAY - before, like so many others, the car is worse off than it is now.
Then read my sigline - there is a reason we take such a strong stand towards dealers.
EDIT: So the engine fan comes on full speed when you turn the key "ON"? That means the engine control relay output from the RCM is missing, which means the PCM is not powered up.
Fix or replace the RCM. That is, if the dealer has not made things worse (which is, all too often, the case.)
