Welcome to the forum! I lived in Dallas for 18 months, but now am up in Arkansas - I came down to Austin maybe 18 months ago to visit a friend from high school, I liked your part of Texas better than Dallas!

I hope you might make one of our bigger meets: The Dragon in TN (Ocotober) or the OZarks in Arkansas (June) - both are long trips for you, but ya kinda owe it to yourself to make it to each at least once.
