I too was concerned at first but then saw more and more owners here cleaning their engines etc.
I only cover the alternator with a plastic grocery bag and avoid the box near the firewall where the RCM and ECU are located
If you have the stock engine cover remove that too and cover the air intake very well with plastic !!
I spray the entire engine bay with Simple Green and allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then thoroughly rinse with water with only a household garden hose
I do this with a cool engine
I then start it up and take it for a drive for at least 20 minutes to warm and thoroughly dry the entire engine and engine bay
This was my engine bay on my first Crossfire - 2004 Coupe --Looks much like my engine bay on my current 2005 Roadster in my previous post here
