The vaccine is not well distributed. There are only a few places in AL (something like 6) were anyone who is 65 or older can drive in and receive the shot. Those older than 75 and "essential" workers have it easier, but they must make an appointment in most places; There are a lot more hospitals and clinics available for those in the 75 and essential group. When I made an appointment at the local public health clinic here in town I was given a date of May 6th for my first vaccine. Consequently, I drove one hour and 45 minutes to Montgomery, waited in line (in my Crossfire) for another 4.8 hours to get my first shot of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine this past Wednesday. They gave something like 1500 shots that day at the drive through event. It will be the same setup come 3 March for the follow up shot. I am 72, had no reaction to the shot other than a slight soreness at the injection site. I'm in pretty good health, no prescription meds or underlying conditions.
