I haven't experienced this problem. I also have a coupe and the built in antenna in the rear glass seems to work just fine.

I'd get it checked at a reputable stereo installation shop. It may be something simple like a loose or not completely seated antenna connector on the back of the stereo.

Do you have the factory unit? (It should be silver with silver buttons and a monochrome display).
