Yes, you take out those screws you are mentioning and the silver center trim piece does come off, but the "base pieces" do not come apart any further. I tried carefully prying apart the remaining pieces part, thinking they were perhaps "snapped" together, but wasn't feeling it would end well with much more pressure. Too as you mentioned I believe the remaining parts are in fact glued together. I did do a quick search on Car-Parts for a used part, and as you mentioned conditions and color matching can be tricky. I'll search ebay see what I come up with.

You can buy a used one and spray paint it the color that matches your car, the paint is available. Since it is easy to remove it will also be easy to paint. A used one will have wear and tear and then just use your silver trim so it matches.
