I think I recall M-B recommending that the "fleece" filter be used on the supercharged 3.2L V-6. But originally recommended the "cellulose" filter with the NA 3.2L V-6. However, I do agree with others on this thread and in the Forum that the "cellulose" filter is a risk to sustain adequate oil filtration for the typical oil change, which was originally recommended by M-B at 7000 miles in their spec 229.3. Others can correct me if I missed something.
