Re: 100% E85 to 91 blends what can work
Ok i finally got it al up and running again but what fun it was not. The supercharger steel pulley from poland looks to be good quailty but when i installed it i had almost 1/8" clutch gap so i removed all the shims and still had way to much gap 1/16" so i removed the pulley bearing and made a custom shim and installed it but now i had .008esh to tight. Since it had been powder painted i lapped sanded off the paint to bare steel tell i got .010esh. Now started the 660 injector install and what a big mess that tuned into. Pulled the intake plenum tops off to see an very ugly mess inside. Looks like 10 year old dries thick peanet butter so that took and unexpected turn. My guess is at one time the inner cooler leaked and must of been ran that way for some time but in the time we have owned it it has not lost coolant. So now its off with the blower to clean / dig out the intake ports and upper manifold parts no fun at all. Decided to install new plugs as a had 1 step colder plugs and went 1 step HOTTER for E60 and gapped them at .35 ( Just a guess at what i thougth would work best. Installed the blower , 660 injectors with the new O rings ect. Filled the tank with E85 and it fired right up but very rich but after running it steady at 3000 rpm for about 5 min it got much better but idle was still to rich. From 1500 up it was more responsive so i took it for a spin to get the blower pulley to engaged and that worked very well. I also wanted to see if i had belt slip so i pulled over to take a look and when i opened the hood i smelled fuel so and saw what looked like damp spots on all the injectors at the head side but they where not leaking then ( probally from boost . Pulled all the injectors and noticed the new O rings had a slightly larger id the the old ones so since they where in good condition i used them and that fixed the leaks. Back on the road again and wow its has more power every where and when the blower engages it pulls hard all the way to 6k but then lays down. So thinking i am running out of fuel at top end i mixed 4 gal of 91 in the tank and also decided to replace the fuel fillters. Now on E60 esh 8 gal e85 4 gal 91 mix its now running very smooth even at idell and pulls hard all they way to 6400 6500. Very happy with it so far but i an worried about blower temp and been thinking about ways to cure that. Thinking of installing an 7th & 8th injector into the blower intake right after the TB by T ing off the stock fuel rail and use some cheap Dc to Dc driver tied to 2 injectors with a simple hob switch's per injector. 1st hob set around 12lbs 2nd around 16lbs. Still do not know if it has a stock ecu but talked EC and after talking to them i belive it is not stock as he asked me it it popped and banged allot and it did when we first got it running. EC told me they do not have a tune for E85 or any mix but recommended there 109 tune. Ok at $700 and i probally already have a tune close to that i will need to think on that. Does anyone here know if there is a way to check if the ecu has been tuned and if so what has been done ?
