Yes, the starter will engage... I am going to take a look at the transmission control and weather it is working properly .... I mean when it is in Park... I think this is supposed to register with the ECU and allow for start- crank...Not sure...
Have you checked the pulse module that is in the fuse box under the hood next to the brake booster?
