Default Re: SKREEM failure cause or could it be connection issue?

Speaking as a life-long electronics technician, I believe (but can't prove) that it is, at least at times, caused by electrical system disturbances that also have destroyed airbag, seatbelt and other modules. ANY electronic module with microprocessors, LSI chips or VLSI chips are susceptible to voltage spikes.

One way to put a stop to some potential spikes is to replace your battery at four year intervals (I do).

Another tip I use is to install one of these redundant ground cable mods (which I also did):

I also keep my battery terminals CLEAN and TIGHT (the battery is your car's best electrical system filter, it acts as a HUGE, HUGE capacitor - but it can't do this effectively if there is resistance in the battery connections).

I also use conventional lead-acid batteries, because the new chemistries, from what I can tell, have an odd RC time-constant.

I"ve been here twelve years and been an ET 39 years, can't come up with much more than that.
My battery is less than 2 years old. I will look into doing that redundant ground cable though, and look to take better care of the terminals since it is a concern keeping these cars going if the parts aren't produced anymore. I still get questions as to what year my car is, people thinking it is brand new. It is nice to have a great looking fun to drive car, but not so fun if repairs become a nightmare. It has been so solid for me up until now. Definitely the least issue car I have ever driven, so would like to keep it going.

I would be suspect of the too many starts being the issue. My SRT6 has only 43K miles on it. Bought it with 12K miles about 8 years ago. About a 20 mile ride to work making up a good share of those miles. So I would think my car has many less starts on it then others that have 90K on them etc.
