UGH!! Yeah, that's what I feared. I did find the original water leak in the improperly installed gasket under the spoiler panel and corrected it and NEVER saw a drop of water again... BUT. I'll have to pull that side apart again and go look. I didn't replace the brain (though I do have a complete 2nd unit just in case), but only a multi pin connector that corroded off the brain. Cleaned all terminals and rewired with solder and shrink tubing... BUT... Sigh... back into the trunk I go! Thanks for your answer as it "confirmed" what I suspected. The alarm issue is weird though.
I agree, that alarm issue is quite controversional. Some have reported it as fact though. IF it continues after you check that 'CLPSSM aka brain module', try the alarm module disconnect under middle windshield cowling (the replacement is expensive, there is an alternative alarm solution developed by 'corefire').
