If anyone has ever wondered about the general layout of the
M111 Kompressor engine this video is self-explanatory as long as you have a knowledge of automotive components. The only bit I was unsure of appears at 2:08. That's the electrically-operated
supercharger bypass valve (I don't know the actual name!) which either routes air into or around the supercharger. In the USA the M111 engine is fitted to
most Mercedes-Benz labeled "
SLK/CLK/C 230 Kompressor". However some vehicles with an M271 engine carried on using the '
230' label even though they were only 1.8L.
Here are the head to head stats for a 2002 SLK230 vs a 2002 SLK320, each fitted with a 5spd automatic.
