I am from the UK, sarcasm is our humour or some of our jokes have two layers. The first layer is what you read the second layer is the real joke.

The UK is getting worse by the day... no thanks to the lax government with no backbone, plus many other deep set issues that authorities are afraid to touch (too stuck up their own backsides and wanting to be politically correct, not offend anyone, or any ethnic group... did I just say that!). Issues just swept under the carpet, so to speak, plus left to brew. The country is a cesspit if I'm being honest!
