Thanks for input all. Battery drain is gone. I can't believe I waited this long to do a 10 minute fix. Per the number of connections I believe where I cut the wire it was bundled and that took care of all the wires.

Surprising you didn't blow a fuse as a minimum. Cutting three wires that include a ground and +12v DC usually results in a blown fuse. Also, the +12 volts could have fed back into the 'signal' wire and toasted something else. You got lucky this time... Good luck, onwards!
