I have about 6 years of supercharger experience although it is with corvettes...
www.ndneyes.com/mo I can share some of the knowledge, that for all intents and purposes would translate to the crossfires...
Running 6-8 pounds of boost is about the max you would want to do with 10.5 :1 compression ratio, LT1 vettes are running that straight with a vortech kit.
I'm now running a forged setup at 9.7 CR with water methanol injection which is much easier than an air to air intercooler...
A rule of thumb formula.. 14.7 plus boost / 14.7
so 14.7 + 8 =22.7 /14.7 = 1.54 pressure ratio
You would need to up your fuel by 1.54 either by a larger volume fuel pump modulated off the boost through a MAP or a FMU or increase your injector size...
Corvettes run typically 36- 42 lbs/min ( i'm running 60's)
I'm pumping 18 gallons per hour of water methanol injection...
We generally run an msd BTM which will retard your timing by up to 15 degrees per X amount of boost... ( I program out my timing with a ECM programmer)
There is the fabrication of the mount and pulleys and getting the belts not to slip etc.
Also you need to consider the trans and what it can handle, My 4l60E lasted about 3 years with over 200 runs on it, I had it built to a level 4 pro comp trans...
Also you can get a rough calculation of the engine horsepower as well 215 *1.54 = ~ 332 hp.
An additional couple thousand dollars for like 40 hp is an insane price to pay... in my opinion...
I am also one of the 50 people that has kicked around Supercharging my crossfire as well. But with a 600 hp corvette I really wonder if i need another supercharged car LOL
If anyone has any questions i'm happy to share.
Finally, corvette owner have been running parallel systems to "work around" the ECM programming for many years successfully... It is very important to have the correct tools to tune properly or you are headed for disaster, a fuel pressure gauge and a wideband O2 sensor are a must! Many of the PLX wide band kits have provisions of monitoring multiple devices via rs 232 to a laptop... Which would probably be ideal for the crossfire.
I also use autotap software to log my corvette on hard runs and for tuning purposes...
I'm not sure if they handle the ISO format or not... but I know the PLX will log outboard devices...
I hope this helps...
