All recommended service intervals are based on mileage without any consideration for age. Show me a car that is 15 years old with 10K on the clock that was "properly maintained" by the mileage based service schedule and I'll show you a mess the likes of which you don't want to see, pay for, or drive more than a few miles from your house because something is gonna go very wrong in short order and after that, more and more problems will present as dry-rotted gaskets throughout and hoses and Lord knows what else starts failing.
Give me the 10K car all the time, not 150K miles of wear and tear on the exterior and interior, seats that have been sat in thousands of times. Everything you look at will be worn, torn or rusted to some lesser or greater degree. Anyone who changes the oil every 7,000 miles just because it says so is crazy. My car is a garage queen, 2005 and 40,000 miles, the oil is changed every year except last year when it only went 600 miles. Every other lubricant or coolant has been changed on schedule or before except for the tranny fluid which will be done this year.
I am guessing you have a high miler, good luck I’ll stick with the low mileage cars every time.
