Question Diagnostic Socket fuse blows

I've searched this forum and the internet with no help for my sorrows.
2005 Roadster Limited 94K miles. I saw the BAS/ESP light illuminated. Wheel left/right no change. I was checking fuses under the hood and found #14 Diagnostic Socket fuse blown.
It pops immediately while inserting new fuse. While i was looking around on the internet, I found one Fuse Block Diagram that says the #14 Diagnostic Socket also has Steering Wheel Location on it. So, i put 2 and 2 together and and came up with a number that I'm really not confident enough with my math to share with you. But, I've read Clock Spring and BAS/ESP light are related.
Could my steering wheel Clock Spring have a dead short? I cannot get anything from the OBD (Diagnostic Socket) because there is no power to it. The shotgun approach, (which I generally will not use) says swap out a part (the clock spring) and see what happens.
I thank you in advance for any help or feedback.
