Regretfully, I did not take photos of all the connections and the top before taking it into the shop. The shop said it must be an electrical problem as they did not touch the electronics. I don't trust repair shops but thought these guys new what they were doing. The owner said he would look into it and get back to me Monday, but I thought I would reach out to the forum. A picture of the switch assembly or video would be helpful to understand how this is suppose to work. It seems to move freely without any limit at the top or bottom. I need to wiggle it to get the top to work. NEVER had a problem until now. Any help would be appreciated- thanks.
That is a normally closed switch. When you latch the top to the windshield frame, the top frame presses on the plunger, causing the switch to open, telling the PTCM that the top is latched or "closed". Wayne Mullins (Shamrock) came up with a substitute a few years ago - it is not an original design, but I have not been able to find a replacement.

So once again, the switch closes or "turns on" when you unlatch the top and the switch's plunger is allowed to "stick out" of the switch body.

I will message Wayne and ask him where he got a replacement.
