My lift support under the hood gave out. It no workee at all.

I did find a link to something called a "support rod" on parts.com for $117.30 (yikes). Is this the same part? I've heard it called Gas Prop (in the service manual), a lift support and now, maybe, a support rod....confusing....

Can someone confirm this is the right part? And if anyone has any advice or sources for a decent replacement, that would be great!

Also, I think I heard that the Crossfire is based on the Mercedes SLK, correct? Would a lift support for that model be compatible? Or do I have my facts/models wrong?

Thanks for any help you guys can send my way!
You have a couple of options:

1) You can purchase only the cartridge for the hood support, disassemble your defective hood support, insert the new cartridge, re-assemble the hood support & re-install on the hood.
2) You can buy the complete hood support. It can be found for a lot less than the $177.30 in your post above. I've attached a copy of the receipt for the complete hood support I bought a few months back.
