Because a system could be wired for a preamp to amp (impedance matching) or stereo output to amp input. The Becker radio is wired to be a stand alone and the amp accepts normal outputs. Many automotive Bose systems are the same. The system must be one or the other, mixing and matching just does not work.The only real oddball is the requirement for a amplifier enable line.
