The only thing I will add is if you purchase an updated Metra Harness Adapter (70-1786), you DO NOT have to switch the Red & Yellow wires. This harness is wired correctly. (see attached)
I did not buy the one you suggested. I bought the Harmony Audio HA-709401 adapter. Do you if they are wired properly?
I spliced color for color and everything works fine. Are you saying that I should switch the red and yellow wires to keep battery from going dead??? It works fine on ACC and engine on.
Yup the adapter is just what I needed. Radio works fine. Someone asked how cheap of a radio I was installing and it was a $39 radio with "no" AM, which is what I listen to. But has Bluetooth and has a "fantastic" sound! I don't think the AMP was ever working with the old Crossfire radio. The sound is really "fantastic" with this cheapo radio! I've been listening to one "stuck on AM station" ever since I bought the car 2 years ago. ( Even though the rear speakers aren't working! )

Not familiar with the Harmony Adapter you used, so you may have everything connected properly. I would just make sure you have the Red & Yellow wires connected to the correct PIN location on the OEM Harness. (Ref Greg's write-up)
Only thing I was referencing was if you purchase the updated Metra Adapter 70-1786, it is correctly wired to match the OEM Crossfire stereo harness. That means the Red & Yellow wires DO NOT need to be switched when connecting the 2 harnesses together.

Well the battery didn't go dead overnight so "maybe" it's also wired correctly. Just don't know why my rear speakers don't work. When I go to the Fading Mode "Rear" the rear speakers are dead.

The Rear Speakers have to be energized by the Infinity Amp under the PS footwell. Per the wiring diagram referenced earlier in this thread and GregWork's write-up I attached earlier, you have to send power to the amp via PIN #5 in the OEM Harness Connector. Not sure which wire in your stereo head's harness needs to be used, but there has to be one available to do this.
I've got some of the same issue with the Pyle aftermarket stereo head I installed a year back or so. I'm too lazy to take the stereo head out of the upper console & modify the wiring connections. Having the rear subwoofers working isn't an issue I'm hung up about.
I'm jumping in on this thread because it is so current and is wiring related.
Just bought my SRT and have purchased a new JVC HU from Crutchfield. I also bought their prewired adapter cable. I specifically told them I wanted to use the preamp outputs. The adapter cable is using the preamps for the speakers but not for the sub. I called tech support but he made no sense. Is this wiring right/ok or should I make an issue of it with Crutchfield....or modify the harness myself?? Or...would I even notice the difference??

Thanks for letting me jump into this thread.
If by saying you bought Crutchfield's prewired adapter harness like the one in the attached PDF, then that adapter harness is wired correctly.
If you bought everything from Crutchfield, then they should be willing to give you tech support on the install. They usually are pretty good in doing so.

Thanks for the response dedwards0323, that looks like the adapter cable Crutchfield sent me....but my question is----why didn't they use the preamp out of the radio for the subwoofer....I haven't removed the Infinity HU yet but I'm assuming it uses the preamp to feed the amp....that's what I am trying to duplicate. Am I correct on the factory wiring?

I'm not an expert on the wiring of the aftermarket stereos used by many of us. I do know that the BL/DG (Blue / Dark Green) wire needs to be wired to whatever wire exists in your stereo harness that will send power to the Infinity Amp. Pizzaguy is probably your best resource for this issue. Hopefully, he will respond as he's part of this thread. I'll be interested also in what he says.
Because a system could be wired for a preamp to amp (impedance matching) or stereo output to amp input. The Becker radio is wired to be a stand alone and the amp accepts normal outputs. Many automotive Bose systems are the same. The system must be one or the other, mixing and matching just does not work. The only real oddball is the requirement for a amplifier enable line.
Please help!!
I have an odd problem with my wiring.
I have the Kenwood Marine head unit (no CD) and I used the Metra 70-1786 plug n play harness. Everything works as far as power, lighting, etc.
When I plug the white and gray RCA plugs into the head unit the sound does work (using either the front or rear female jacks).
But when I have just the gray and white plugged in, the sound also goes to my rear subs. So, at full volume, the music doesn't seem very loud.
Also, the green and purple RCA plugs do absolutely nothing, no matter where I plug them. These male RCA plugs are dead.
So, in a nutshell... the gray and white spreads the sound to all 4 speakers (front left & right + both subs), and the purple and green are dead.
I'm probably over explaining this, but just want to make sure you guys understand, so I can correct the problem.
As I look at the Metra connector, the green and purple don't even go to anything on the other side. (see pics - top left and right corners)
If you understand my plight, please explain it in a simple way. I'd like to get the channels separated properly and get the subs on a their own separate chanel and get my volume to where it should be. I've looked at all the diagrams, schematics, etc... but I'm still perplexed and I just need a simple solution, if possible.
On a side note, somewher down the line I'm actually thinking about bypassing the factory subs and putting 6x9 speaker boxes in the rear cargo area.
Could I use the factory wiring going to the subs for my left and right rear speakers?
Or, are those dedicated "subwoofer-only" (mono) wires coming from the factory amp?
That would mean I have to run separate rear wiring from the head unit, right?
Thanks in advance!!

Reason: Added info
Limiteds and SRTs have an amp under the passenger's feet. The head drives the amp, not speakers.
You REALLY should have read thru some of the threads in this part of the forum, we have several "sticky" threads just for this, that is why they are there.
Only Base and SE models have no amp.
You guys are all such dicks, if you’re going to take the time to be condescending and rude then why not just answer his question. Ugh. Acting like your gods gift 🙄

Hey 2 post cry baby, you’re mom called. She said to come over so she can wipe your nose.
Lots of posts about this on the forum
The factory amp is left/right only. You cannot control the front back separately.
Best solution, replace the amp and install all new wires. Don’t use the jacks on the back of the head unit, you’ll get lots of background noise.

What are you talking about?
Almost every question he asked was answered. I don't see any problem with the one you quoted.
Well, if it makes you happy, you can fill out this form and send it in to management.

And............ he's gone.
Two posts in two years, not gonna miss him, are we?
Words of wisdom from someone who has bought two cheapie radios that weren't worth a toot! "You pay less you will get less!" $29 and $39 radios don't cut it! I'm still riding around with "no" working radio! LoL

My cheapy JVC ($85) I bought in 2015 when I got the SE home is still working.
I planned to use it only for the ES trip then get someting better but never did.
Haven't really needed a radio for the last 4 months or so as they have been sitting in the yard waiting for my health issues to get better. One needs a down stream oxy sensor and the other needs new plugs, wires and coil set. Can't get under or lean over fender until my chiropractor gets me better! "In a hundred years it won't even matter!" LoL
