Default Radio wiring color code assistance!

I'm installing an aftermarket radio today and can't find a color code chart that matches my Xfire's wires! The colors are kinda faded and are different from what I'm finding on the web. Can anyone help me out with what goes to what and +/- speaker phasing in the picture below??????? I didn't think it would take an electrical engineering degree for such a simple task! LoL Thanks (Or maybe I'm just dumber than dirt!)

My car is a '06 Limited. The two heavier brown wires I am figuring are + and - power supply. The two twisted pairs might be right and left sides! The two wires on far right side are thinner wires and yellow/grn on far left is a heavier wire.

I have my power and ACC hooked up and the radio comes on. However when I connect any of the four pairs of the radio's speaker wires to one of the two twisted paired I get no sound or raster at all. And yes the antenna is hooked up. (Dead silent) Are the two twisted pairs, of the car wiring harness, for front and rear, right and left sides??

1) Brown is almost ALWAYS ground in our cars and certainly so in the audio system.
Power is RD/DG for battery and PK/YL/DG for switched power.
2) It has been seven years since I put my aftermarket head in, and those wires just don't look like the factory harness in my 07 SE, but again, mine is a Base model.
3) I believe the documentation in this thread is accurate:

Did you connect the amp enable line?
The amp won't turn on if you don't TURN IT ON!

A5 on the radio supplies 12 volts to power the am/fm preamp and to enable the amplifier. If your after market head does not have this, then connect this to the switched power to the head (Not to battery power, or your car's battery will go dead when it's parked).

AMP? What Amp? Do I have an Amp? If I had an Amp would it be under the passenger's seat? There's nothing under the passenger's seat! I did an ohm check of the two twisted pairs and it's reading an open. Should be reading the speaker's coil resistance.

Limiteds and SRTs have an amp under the passenger's feet. The head drives the amp, not speakers.
You REALLY should have read thru some of the threads in this part of the forum, we have several "sticky" threads just for this, that is why they are there.

Only Base and SE models have no amp.

I was under the impression that my Xfire was a Limited as it has electric windows, electric seats and leather interior. Am I incorrect in this assumption? I have been reading thru some of the sticky's and postings but couldn't cull out anything pertaining to mine. Especially the wiring color codes! Gonna see if I have a speaker rat holed somewhere in the shop and plug it into the radio and see what happens. Hope I have one! Thanks Pizzaguy!

Do an Internet search and it will show you where the amp is. It is not under the seat but under the floor, under the dash.

It IS a Limited, and it DOES have an amp and you have, I am sure, not connected the 'enable' line and thats why you have nothing from the speakers.

Thanks Pizzaguy! Good to know that I have a pwr amp. Evidently the two skinny wires on the far right are what enables the pwr amp?!?! It looks as if they do not hook up to the aftermaket radio itself but need to be energized "somehow" to enable the radio's signal to pass thru amp which will feed the speakers. The radio feeds the signal to the amp and the speakers are connected to the amp rather than the radio. Anyone know how to do this? I've looked at schematics and don't see how to manage this! The colors of the two skinny wires "appear" to be Grn/Blu and Gray/Blu. Took a little better pic deeper in the mounting cavity. Looking at schematic I see a Gry/Blu coming from a "Splice Block 200" to the radio pin 6 or maybe an {8}.

Looks as if the Grn/Blu will need attachment to the ACC power source to enable the power amp. I'll give that a try tomorrow morning. Still don't know what the Gray/Blu wire does though. The Gry/Blu wire comes from "Splice Block 200." (Have to research that.)

Splice block 200 is switched power for backlighting, it powers the lights in the: Shift Lever, Ash Tray, Console switch group, Radio, etc.

Attached is one of the better DIYs I found with a Forum Search on hooking up an aftermarket stereo. Hope this helps,

I also attached a good reference for identifying wiring color codes.

Finished working on my exhaust system repair today and will get back to the radio installation in the next day or two. Nice to have a quiet exhaust since owning the car in December.

The only thing I will add is if you purchase an updated Metra Harness Adapter (70-1786), you DO NOT have to switch the Red & Yellow wires. This harness is wired correctly. (see attached)

Think I'm going to give up with this radio and buy a plug and play with the car's original radio connector. Have no idea what the two far right wires are for. None of the color codes seem to match up with what I have. The problem seems to be getting the amp working with the radio I have. (Cheapo radio)
As I see it the Yel/Blu is switched ACC
The next going right is constant 12v
The next is ground
The next is two twisted pairs are probably left/right channels
The nest two skinny wires are ?????

Don't worry about the color of the wires in your aftermarket head - Go by function! Just connect everything based on the functionality of the wire from your head unit.
