I found an excellent You Tube video that shows how to repair a xfire turn signal stalk/switch. It appears the primary cause in many cases is directly related to poor electrical connections at the various switch contact points. The video demonstrates how to clean the various contacts. Corrosion seems to be culprit resulting in many switch assemblies being replaced unnecessarily.

My only problem with that - if I am going to rip that assembly out, I intend to fix it for good. I have done a lot of "Sticky keys" and it's not too hard once you learn how to do it, maybe getting to the Multifunction-switch (stalk/switch) isn't all that bad, but it sure SOUNDS like it's an awful task.
