I am sure this is a typical situation these days. Fob was damaged and the transponder lost. I have been waiting nearly a year to get a replacement from FCA and most, if not all, 3rd party sources have any idea when one will become available. I'm just looking for any last options prior to pulling the SKREEM/PCM units from the car and sending them in. Considering the latter option - any recommendations?

It doesn't work like that. The keys for other cars don't work on other cars. Mercedes no longer makes keys or skreems so it is not possible for Chrysler to get one.

You either buy a complete used set from eBay with skreem, key, ecu, locks etc or send your ecu and skreem plus door lock to the https://themercedesswapshop.com/
