Default Re: Standard, LED, and HID Lamp Solutions and Numbers

Regarding replacement LED headlights: here's my experience and conclusion.

I got tired of regular bulbs blowing frequently on the wife's 2014 Forester, so last fall I bought a reasonably priced pair of Chinese LED bulbs that had good reviews on Amazon.

Surprise LED headlight finding: Each bulb has an external transformer that must be attached close to the headlight assembly due to the length of the connecting wires. The product posting didn't mention that detail. Thankfully there were some nearby braces that worked, though I had to substitute my own cable ties to attach them, as the ones included in the package were way too small.

That said, these LED bulbs have been working great, but I just checked Amazon and found that they're no longer available via the original product link from my order.

What about using LEDs in my Crossfire? I am not going there. Having changed way too many H7 bulbs in my Crossfire, I do not think that I can easily fit those bulbs in the confined space without taking off a wheel and using the access panel. I am also not sure that the bulb will fit in socket due to the bulb's thick base.
