Default Re: Manual Top Operation

I have a question that probably fits this thread best, for completeness.

I was reading the Service Manual about the manual top operation (pages 4043 - 4051, section 23, 482 onwards), and the steps seem to be confused about locking and unlocking the rearbow with the hexwrench.

Manual lowering, step 4 mentions a counterclockwise turn unlocks the bow
Manual raising, step 9 first mentions a counterclockwise turn locks the bow
and then step 14 mentions a clockwise turn locks the bow (additionally?)

So, is the manual confused? Am I confused? Or is this the secret doorknock that provides the true rearbow waterseal lock that the one-click procedure also accomplishes?

(I attached the pertinent part from the 2005 service manual.)
