I got my tool yesterday off of amazon. The Allen key part is about two inches. that was too long to stick into the release. You can buy the tool and just cut off the excess.

You are new, welcome to the forum. Please do not post technical or other information that is inaccurate. A strait wrench will not move the pawl far enough to pop the lid before reaching it's end of travel. Additionally, thick wrenches will scratch the finish, there is a reason the original tools are thin and curved. I realize MANY on the internet claim it works - probably Coupe owners jealous of us Roadster guys.
