Mine is an 07, I simply pulled the fuse after finally finding out that my module is not the same as the 05's that a lady sent me for free (she was nice enough to send me one from her junked car for free, in return for work I did for her.)

If you sell the car, simply be honest and tell the buyer that the airbags are disabled and if they want them to work, they can spend the $2300 at a dealer to get them fixed. (Assuming the dealer can get a module, which I'm pretty sure they can't.)
Thanks for the reply pizza, as far as initializing what device would I need to purchase could I get away with something like this? I seen a youtube video of the same unit being used to trouble shoot the air bag system on our cars.
Amazon Amazon
Also the module I pulled was from the same year car thanks for the solution but I'm uncomfortable at this point driving such a small car without air bags gotta figure this one out. I did not know the units needed to be initialized as I've read a couple other posts where people just plug and play. I guess now I need to learn how the air bag system actually functions trying to find it in the service manual and start testing.
