Any thoughts on where one may be found or perhaps even an alternative?
Thank you.
They are not really out of stock, they just do not exist and have to be made on an individual basis. The key has to be cut to the shape required for that particular car and a chip has to be made to suit the SKREEM for that car. A few companies have managed to do the chip encoding so we have to pay what they ask unless you want to tear out your existing security system and install a used one from a parts car. Cheaper to buy the key I think, buy two and put one in a vault at the bank.
Buy spare parts using the Mercedes part number where possible and do not go to a Chrysler dealer, if they can they will buy a Mercedes part and resell it to you at twice the price , thats if they can be bothered to help you. Do not mention the part you buy at a Mercedes dealer is for a Crossfire as you will be lucky to touch the pavement when they throw you out the door. Get a Mercedes VIN number of a car that you know uses the part you want, in our case it would be an SLK320 or an SLK32.
