Default Re: Top inoperable - module?

In the fourteen years I've been here, in all the Roadster top issues I've fought, not once has the issue been the top module. A top that wont go UP or DOWN is not likely the top open or divider switch, as those two are not checked when putting the top UP. The trunk latch switch has caused issues, you can measure it's pin at the TPCM connector (with trunk closed, then open, to see the change in state, if there is no change in state, that is your problem).

Things that will stop the top from moving:
Blown fuse to PTCM.
Trunk latch switch not showing closed.
Trunk lock (electric lock) not activating or not indicating activation.
Vehicle speed too high.
The CLP/SSM can inhibit top operation, but when it goes, generally the powered wing will either never move or just go UP every time you start the car (similar to a weak battery). Most often, this is caused by water instrusion that has damaged the CLP/SSM connectors and board.
The BCM does not like something and is inhibiting operation (rare, really rare).

Go ahead and swap the PTCM but make sure you get a WORKING MODULE.. I'd prefer to swap one from a car known to be working, if yours works in theirs, then you know your PTCM is OK.
