Update: Yes, it's been working just fine. I backed the car out so its back end was in the sun. After 3 hours I went to check and it opened and closed easily, as it's supposed to. One takeaway from this is don't wash off the car as the temps are dropping to freezing. Our daytime temps will be in the 50s-low 60s the next week with no rain expected. This also reminds me to check that the drains are all clear and working.
So, don't wash the car after dark in freezing temperatures.
