You haven't priced replacement keys for other cars, have you? Long gone are the days where you can 'cut' a key and start the vehicle. My 2006 Vulcan and 2005 Ranger have no anti-theft RFID chips in their keys. But anything recent does.
i just rekeyed 4 keys for my daughters 2015 Camry for about 75 bucks each. had vw new beetle key for 150... but yeah long gone are the days of cheap spare keys🤷 o well. just glad that means it's hard to steal as well.
