are you sure those wires don't go to your outdoor temperature sensor - it's located in that exact spot and only has 2 wires. Is your outdoor temperature sensor working?

Temp sensor is 20 inches below and towards the left. Green and brown wires. The brown and brown with red stripe are usually wrapped around the hood latch cable.
