Default Window on side of telescopic steering wheel now not functioning correctly

There is/was a spring-loaded "window" in the sleeve on the right side of the telescopic steering wheel column, down where the column enters the dash. While performing the "sticky key" prevention procedure, a coil spring fell out of the sleeve, and the plastic sleeve and window, and possibly a third inner part are now just rattling around. Where this is located, it is impossible to see up inside the sleeve, and little hope of even reaching inside there. Has anyone dealt with this? I'm wondering whether the steering wheel would have to be removed to access these parts (raises Q's re horn wiring, air bag wiring, etc.).
Wasn't sure where to post this question. Issue is on a 2005 SRT6 Roadster, but are these optional across all models?
OBTW the sticky key procedure was a success, but one step forward, one step back.
