All you need to do is remove the silver cover. It pops in half. To remove the actual pll, there are two bolts under the cover that hold it on. You do not need to remove the door panel.
First on the list is to take apart the two piece door handle using a painters spatula. Carefully wedge and pry the two inner and outer halves apart from the bottom groove of the handle applying moderate pressure.
I tried that when I was doing the reinforcement how to. I removed the 2 screws and couldn't get it to move.
It wasn't necessary to remove it for what I was doing, but I was curious to see how they came apart.
