Default Water in pan under front of engine

I've owned my car for almost a year and have washed it countless times. I washed her yesterday and I went into the garage to open the hood to clean the engine bay when I looked down and saw a liquid pooled on the shield under the engine. I never noticed that water pooled there. It's clear water, most likely from the wash. I was just wondering if anyone had this experience this. I am thinking about drilling a couple of small drain holes in the pan to let the water drain. Has anyone done that? I know it's not hurting anything, but I would rather have it dry.
